At Henry Ford, we understand every performer is not the same. Your discipline, your genre, and unique physical makeup all help determine your best treatment plan. Our teams are experienced at serving those in all the performing arts.
At Henry Ford, our first mission is to cure acute problems, such as sore throat and laryngitis, returning you to the stage as quickly as possible. To ensure a long career, we’ll work with you to prevent future problems. Our Otolaryngologists and Speech Pathologists specialize exclusively in vocal care for performing artists. In addition to our state-of-the-art testing, an on-site assessment of your on-stage performance is frequently part of the examination.
Whether ballet or jazz, contemporary or hip hop, your moves are your voice. Without them, you are silenced. Henry Ford’s team includes physicians and allied professionals in Orthopedics, Physical Therapy, Neurology and Primary Care, backed by the expansive resources of the Henry Ford Center for Athletic Medicine. Our team is experienced in treating the dancer, whether your visit is for an injury, or simply the result of the rigors of the profession.
A demanding schedule of practice and performances produce a variety of cramps, strains and even injuries that put you in the wings for an extended period. Henry Ford experts in Physical Medicine, Neurology, Orthopedics and Physical Therapy specialize in treating instrumental musicians. Some of our doctors even play a number of instruments, giving them a personal understanding of your needs. Most injuries we see are treated with medication and therapy, but if necessary Neurologists and Surgical Specialists are standing by to help you get back on stage.
Our staff psychologist understands stage fright, and can expertly help you through this challenge suffered by as many as a quarter of all performing musicians.
