Creating a Total Image

Our Creating a Total Image workshop is designed to support cancer patients currently in treatment by addressing changes in hair, skin, and nails through monthly, hands-on classes. Participants will receive:

• Education, resources, and expert guidance on restoring and maintaining your self-image
• Complimentary pharmaceutical-grade skincare and makeup for all skin types
• Live demonstrations on managing hair loss, wig care, and styling accessories
• Nail consultations to address changes in nail color, texture, and strength

Whether you're navigating treatment yourself or supporting someone who is, this program is here to help you feel confident and cared for.

Workshops are held monthly at Maggie's Wigs for Kids, located at 30130 Harper Avenue St. Clair Shores, MI.

Eligibility: This free program is open to individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment. An RSVP is required.

Meet the Expert: Workshop founder and facilitator Maggie Varney is a licensed cosmetologist, certified hair restoration specialist, and passionate entrepreneur with a lifelong commitment to giving back. As a lead technician for the Creating a Total Image program and facilitator for the American Cancer Society’s Look Good, Feel Better initiative, Maggie generously volunteers her time and expertise to help cancer patients manage the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. With over 30 years of experience working with adult cancer patients—and as a cancer survivor herself—Maggie brings both professional skill and personal understanding to her work. She is also the founder of Maggie’s Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan, a nonprofit organization that provides custom wigs and support services at no cost to Michigan children experiencing hair loss due to illness or treatment.
