Henry Ford Hospital Campus Progress

As early as Saturday, July 13, road closures will begin, and fencing will be placed to enclose the entire Destination: Grand construction site in Detroit. This will close some roads and shift traffic patterns around Henry Ford Hospital – primarily on the south side of West Grand Boulevard near the Henry Ford Brigitte Harris Cancer Pavilion.

To get to the Henry Ford Brigitte Harris Cancer Pavilion: Use West Grand Blvd. and turn right at West Milwaukee Street to go behind the building and turn left into the parking area.

Primary roads to close include:

  • West Milwaukee Street from southbound John C. Lodge Service Drive to the cancer center drive
  • Lincoln Street from West Grand Boulevard to Wilbur Avenue
  • West Baltimore Avenue from southbound John C. Lodge Service Drive to Lincoln Street
  • Wilbur Avenue will remain open with access only from Holden to Lincoln (south)

There will be minimal impact to roads and traffic on the north side of West Grand Blvd. for those coming and going from Henry Ford Hospital.

The fencing and road closures will be in effect while the area remains an active construction site. Those driving in the area should be mindful of detour signs and other directional signage to help them navigate around the medical campus.

Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences Research Center Progress

Construction is underway for the future Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences Research Center, located in a portion of a parking lot on Third Street just across the street from Henry Ford’s headquarters. Fencing and fence covers to minimize dust were installed the week of May 20. Crews will begin drilling the building foundations and removing soil on June 3. They will be installing steel rods and filling them with concrete through the summer.

We anticipate increased truck traffic and construction-related noise continuing through the summer of 2026. Given current road construction and limited available roads to accommodate the size of trucks, we are encouraging trucks to exit off M-10 at Warren and travel north via 2nd Street, then Antoinette to reach the site.

We encourage you give yourself plenty of time when planning the visits. We appreciate your patience and support.
