Interview Day Information
EM Recruitment Season Overview
All of our interviews will again be conducted virtually this year. We are using ResidencyCAS for applications, invitations and interviews. While most of this information will also apply for EM/IM applicants, there are some differences in the process explained a little further below. During the recruitment season we hope to give you multiple opportunities to ask questions and get to know us:
- Welcome session with the program director
- Interviews with PD, APD and other faculty members
- Interview with resident
- Virtual Hangouts/Second Looks (optional)
- Second Look events in person at HFH (optional)
Interview Day Schedule
EM applicants will have 5 interviews spread throughout the day (PD, APD, resident, faculty members). EM/IM applicants will speak with the EM/IM, EM and IM Program Directors as well as a faculty member during their interview day. You will have breaks mixed into the day.
- 9:00 am EST: PD Welcome
- 9:30 am – 14:00 pm EST: Interviews
There will also be a dedicated break time during the day to allow for an informal chat with available residents
Virtual Hangouts and Second Looks
One of the most valuable aspects of our interview process is the opportunity for you to meet our residents. We understand this is challenging in a virtual environment and we will continue to offer in-person second look events again this season. All of these virtual hangouts and in-person events are offered solely for your benefit and there are not any expectations of attendance on our end. We understand you may not be able to attend in-person for a variety of reasons, and your attendance will not impact your position on the rank list in any way. We will continue to offer virtual options to provide everyone with an opportunity to meet our residents and ask them questions important to you. If you rotated with us, do not feel that you need to attend Virtual Hangouts or Second Looks. You have already spent a month with us!
We will send out a link to sign up for Virtual Hangouts and Second Looks with our interview invitations. Please only sign up for one of the virtual hangout dates so that we are able to accommodate everyone. You may also sign up for an in-person second look if you would like to visit with us.
We understand that people may have schedules that may not align with our in-person dates. If you are planning to be in or near Detroit and would like to visit us in a less formal manner, please contact our coordinators, Nicole Reid (EM) and Jennifer Owens (EM/IM). We will do our best to accommodate you based on our availability.
EM/IM Specific Information
The EM/IM program is also using ResidencyCAS for applications, invitations and interviews. The interview day is a little differently organized and this will be communicated to you in more detail via the email confirmation after schedule. The general time commitment will be the same.
The EM/IM program will offer their own specific virtual hangouts. The In-Person Second Looks for EM and EM/IM candidates will be combined.
