What to Expect

Program's rotations

  • First year spent on the inpatient consultation and liver transplantation services
  • Second and third year fellows have a continuity practice experience in our outpatient clinic
  • Fellows are expected to complete a research project; supervision in clinical epidemiology, statistics and research design can be arranged

Procedures done

  • Fellows perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, manometry studies, liver biopsy and esophageal dilation under staff supervision
  • Endoscopic procedures are performed by all fellows, with advanced endoscopic procedures taught during the second and third years of training by trained interventional staff


  • Teaching program includes didactic sessions, and weekly conferences to review physiology, pathology, current literature and patient management problems
