Program Overview

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit offers an ACGME accredited three-year fellowship-training program accepting one fellow each academic year. The HFH MFM Fellowship program provides fellows with the requisite education, mentoring, and faculty supervision to provide consultation for obstetric, medical, and surgical complications of pregnancy. Fellows also acquire expert skills in prenatal ultrasound and diagnosis and achieve a level of clinical excellence that allows them to serve as effective and valued consultants for patients and providers. Fellows engage in meaningful research to identify solutions to multiple maternal-fetal issues and provide an enhanced educational environment for the institution.

Missions and Aims

The Henry Ford Hospital Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship program's mission is to graduate fellows well equipped to address the multiple challenges confronting obstetric care today. These challenges include, unacceptably high rates of maternal morbidity and mortality, unacceptably high rates of neonatal morbidity and mortality most often due to prematurity, and healthcare disparities that plague our patients of color. The increasing complexity of obstetric care demands fellowship trained Maternal Fetal providers to address these, and other, challenges that our patients and providers face. These aims align closely with those of Henry Ford Hospital and foster strong bonds with our academic partner, Michigan State University.
