Katherine Flannery, MD is an associate chief medical officer for Henry Ford Hospital. She is responsible for providing operational leadership and implementing strategic initiatives involving utilization optimization, medical staff oversight and care experience. She works closely with Drs. Gupta and Szymanski.
Most recently, Dr. Flannery served as the Medical Director of Utilization Management and Observation Unit at Henry Ford Hospital from 2021 to 2024. In these roles, she led many throughput and operational initiatives developing protocols and processes to enhance hospital operations, reduce length of stay, and ensure compliance with Medicare regulations. She continues to serve as co-chair for the Henry Ford Health Medical Lab Formulary Committee.
Dr. Flannery completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital where she also served as chief resident from 2015 to 2016. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Professional Studies from the University of Notre Dame.
