Karima Bentounsi serves in dual leadership roles as President of Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Henry Ford Providence Southfield and Novi Hospitals. As president, she leads a 191-bed acute care campus in Metro Detroit, setting strategic direction, advancing clinical excellence, and fostering a culture of innovation and patient-centered care. As COO, she provides executive oversight for daily operations across two major hospitals, aligning resources, driving system integration, and translating Henry Ford Health’s strategic vision into measurable results. In both capacities, she is dedicated to delivering exceptional quality, operational performance, and sustainable growth across the region.
An accomplished senior healthcare executive, Karima brings extensive experience spanning healthcare operations, finance, and executive management across not-for-profit, investor-owned, and public health systems. She has consistently led transformative initiatives that improve patient outcomes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen organizational performance.
Prior to Henry Ford Health’s joint venture with Ascension Michigan in October 2024, Karima was Regional Chief Operating Officer for Ascension Michigan. She has held several senior executive leadership roles within the Detroit Medical Center (DMC), serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Adult Central Campus, which comprises Detroit Receiving Hospital, Harper University Hospital, DMC Heart Hospital, and Hutzel Women’s Hospital. Additionally, she led systemwide operations as COO for all seven DMC hospitals.
Karima holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University. She has earned numerous national recognitions and actively contributes to community leadership, serving on the boards of the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network, the Novi Chamber of Commerce, and other organizations.
