Alan H Klein, MD

Alan H. Klein, MD is a board-certified general orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Klein moved to Michigan 5 years ago after practicing for 25 years in Pittsburgh, where he served as Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Upon the move to Michigan in 2020, Dr. Klein began practicing at Ascension in Warren/Madison Heights (a former Ascension Michigan site that is now part of Henry Ford Health), and in 2025 he expanded his practice to a second location at Henry Ford Medical Center - Chesterfield.

Dr. Klein holds clinical faculty appointments at both Michigan State University and Wayne State University, and he serves as Clinical Champion for MARCQI (Michigan Arthroplasty Registry Collaborative Quality Initiative) at Henry Ford Warren and Henry Ford Madison Heights Hospitals.

Dr. Klein has extensive experience managing a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including hip and knee arthritis, shoulder pain, sports and overuse injuries, as well as fractures.

He believes in patient focused care in that treatment options are a shared decision between physician and patient, beginning with education of the condition and often leading to exercise, joint injection therapy, bracing, and surgery. When a surgical option is selected, Dr. Klein utilizes not only his many years of expertise as a clinician and educator, but also his mechanical engineering background to employ the most up-to-date evidence-based treatments, including total joint replacement, minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, and other advanced techniques to achieve the best patient outcomes.

Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Klein is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Outside of his practice, Dr. Klein enjoys tinkering with vintage cars. He and his wife moved to Michigan in order to spend more time with their 3 grandchildren.
