About Me
Biographical Statement
Nathan Marshall, MD, is a fellowship trained, board certified orthopedic surgeon with deep roots in Michigan. Raised in Western Michigan, he has spent more than 15 years practicing medicine in the Detroit area. He earned his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Albion College and then went on to complete his medical degree at Wayne State University. During medical school, Dr. Marshall received multiple honors and was also inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honors society in his Junior year. Dr. Marshall completed his orthopedic residency at Henry Ford Hospital and then pursued specialized training through a sports and shoulder fellowship at the world-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles, California. During his fellowship, he had the opportunity to treat and care for professional athletes from around the country as well as covering professional teams including the Los Angeles Rams, Kings, Dodgers, Sparks, and the NFL Combine.
Dr. Marshall utilizes his vast expertise and experience to treat a wide range of orthopedic conditions. When surgery is indicated, he prioritizes minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques. He further utilizes innovative physical therapy treatments and biologic injections including Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and cell-based treatments like stem cells when it comes to nonoperative treatment options for his patients.

I am passionate about achieving the highest possible level of function for all my patients, regardless of activity level or lifestyle. My approach is centered on understanding each patient's individual goals, expectations, and condition and developing a personalized plan to meet them. By keeping patients and their families at the heart of the process, I believe the best outcomes are achieved through working towards these goals together.
Research Interests
Dr. Marshall has published more than 25 peer-reviewed studies including studies on Tommy John surgery, ACL tears, bicep ruptures, hamstring tears, and other musculoskeletal injuries. He has also presented his research at national conferences throughout his career.
