Hassan A Nasser, MD

Biographical Statement

Dr. Nasser completed his medical training at the American University of Beirut, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He then completed his general surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. He then joined the general surgery department at Henry Ford Health as a senior staff surgeon. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Bariatric Surgery Center at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. His clinical expertise includes primary metabolic and bariatric surgery (including sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass), revisional bariatric surgery, complex hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction, and foregut surgery.

Research Interests

Dr. Nasser has an extensive portfolio of scholarly work including numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and conference presentations. His research is primarily centered around bariatric and minimally invasive surgery, with a particular focus on evaluating and comparing the outcomes of different surgical techniques such as robotic-assisted and conventional laparoscopic procedures. His research also involves the analysis of perioperative outcomes and the identification of risk factors for complications such as surgical site infections. This work reflects his interest and commitment to optimize patient postoperative outcomes.
