Biographical Statement
Dr. D’Angela Pitts is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist and Maternal Fetal Medicine physician. She serves as the Medical Director of Maternal and Perinatal Health Outcomes at Henry Ford Health, leading systemwide initiatives to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality and address racial and ethnic disparities in care. Her work focuses on improving quality, safety, and equitable outcomes for high-risk and underserved populations through innovative programs such as hospital-based doula services, nurse navigation, and postpartum hypertension management.
A Detroit native, Dr. Pitts earned her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Grand Valley State University and her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Howard University Hospital and her Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan. She has been recognized as a Crain’s Detroit Business “Healthcare Hero – Advancements in Care” (2025), March of Dimes “Hero for Babies” (2024), and Hour Detroit “Top Doctor” (2022) for her leadership and advocacy in maternal health equity.
