Care Philosophy:
I am an advocate of the collaborative care model and believe, just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a treatment team comprised of competent and compassionate providers to heal patients with mental illness.
Biographical Statement: Dr. Prabhakar is Director of Psychiatric Education for Behavioral Health Services. He also directs the Henry Ford Hospital/ Wayne State University General Psychiatry Residency Program. Dr. Prabhakar is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, he is certified in general adult psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He provides clinical care at our One Ford Place location in Detroit and Columbus Center in Novi. His research interests include depression, suicide, psychiatric education, and physician distress. He has presented nationally and internationally at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), The American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training (AADPRT), Association for Academic Psychiatry (AAP), American Psychiatric Association (APA) and World Psychiatric Association-Epidemiology (WPA). Dr. Prabhakar specializes in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Sports Psychiatry and he is provided consultation to the Detroit area collegiate and professional sports teams.
