About Me
Biographical Statement
Dr. Majid Shaman is a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist, obstetrician-gynecologist and Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine Ultrasound at Henry Ford Health.
Dr. Shaman specializes in the care of women with high-risk pregnancies, including pregnancies complicated by maternal medical conditions, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, fetal growth abnormalities, fetal anomalies, multiple gestations, and other complex obstetric conditions requiring advanced prenatal care and fetal assessment.
He earned his medical degree from Saint George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency training at the University at Buffalo, and subsequently completed a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at Wayne State University and the Perinatology Research Branch in Detroit, Michigan.
In addition to his clinical and educational responsibilities, Dr. Shaman is actively involved in research focused on preeclampsia prevention, aspirin prophylaxis in pregnancy, maternal health outcomes and obstetric ultrasound. His research has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international scientific meetings, including the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG).
Dr. Shaman has received numerous honors for excellence in clinical care, teaching, leadership and quality improvement, including the Rosemary Tindall Award for Excellence in Quality and Safety, the Wayne State University Outstanding Junior Faculty Award and multiple APGO Excellence in Teaching Awards. He is committed to advancing maternal and fetal health through evidence-based care, education, quality improvement and research.
