Pre-Cardiac Catheterization Instructions

1. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before the catheterization. If the catheterization is scheduled for 1 p.m. or later, you may have a liquid breakfast before 7 a.m. Do not eat or drink anything after 7 a.m.
2. All medications can be taken with a little water in the morning except Glucophage or Coumadin to be stopped three to five days prior to your catheterization.
3. Patients with diabetes should check with their doctor regarding their insulin.
