There are two main disorders that fall under the classification of IBD: Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Crohn’s disease can cause inflammation in any area of the digestive tract, from the mouth to the end of the intestines. Ulcerative colitis, meanwhile, can cause inflammation and ulcers (open sores) only in the inner lining of the colon (large intestine) and rectum.
