We treat all hematology conditions, including rare and complex cases.

If you’ve been referred to a hematologist, you may be worried. We are here to help and give you the compassion you deserve and the time you need to ask questions. Our expert team will carefully assess you, tell you what to expect and create a personalized treatment plan for you.

What is hematology?

Hematology is the study of disorders that affect the blood and related structures, such as red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, lymph nodes, bone marrow and spleen.

Hematology conditions and cancer treatment

Many hematology conditions are either cancerous or pre-cancerous. Even when a blood disorder is not cancerous, it may be treated with some of the same medical oncology therapies used to treat cancer. For this reason, treatment for all blood disorders at Henry Ford Health is coordinated through an integrated team of hematologists and oncologists, who treat cancer.
