What we do

Hernias are defects in the fascia and muscles of the abdominal wall. These can occur in the groin, umbilicus (belly button), between and umbilicus and rib cage (epigastric). Sometimes, they are the result of stress injuries or prior surgeries.

Our qualifications

At Henry Ford, our surgeons perform thousands of hernia surgeries each year. Many of the surgeries are done under local anesthetic with the patients home the same day. Patients who suffer from intracutaneous hernias often can have the hernia repaired without the use of any foreign materials.
