Henry Ford Health System, supported by a grant from the Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation, recently launched ArtBlock, a community art space that will showcase the talents of local Detroit artists.
Henry Ford Health System is reimagining great healthcare by moving beyond the walls of our hospitals and clinics — and into the communities we serve.
Together with the Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation, Henry Ford launched ArtBlock in May 2019. This art-infused collaborative space for youth and families honors a vibrant arts district and our flagship neighborhood. ArtBlock weaves together installations by up-and-coming and established Detroit artists, youth and family programming, health and wellness and more, serving as a gathering space for imagination, exploration, creativity and celebration.
The site and surrounding intersection features murals by fel300ft and Michelle Tanguay, a set of interactive sculptures by Juan Martinez and a sewn installation by Amy Fisher Price. ArtBlock also showcases artwork by Army, Bad Dad 907, bana, ENUF98, Four, Fudweiser, Kobie Soloman, Malt, SINTEX and SW Freddy.
Thank you to the Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation for its critical support of ArtBlock’s public art and youth programming, and to our inaugural partners 1xRUN, Green Living Science, Grasso Holdings, Make Art Work, and RecycleHere!
Community groups, non-profits, and others are invited to hold events and meetings in ArtBlock at no cost based on space and staff availability. A usage fee will be assessed for commercial events. For information on how to reserve space at ArtBlock for your upcoming function, please email us with your name, phone number and a brief description of your proposed event or meeting, or call Michele at (313) 874-6046.
