Applying to Our Program

Dear Applicants,

Thank you for your interest in the OB/GYN Residency Program at Henry Ford Hospital! Henry Ford Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology accepts application only from ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). Your Dean's office will inform you of the necessary steps and provide you with the hardware/software to prepare this application. Residency Application Requirements(all transmitted by ERAS):

  1. Completed ERAS Application
  2. Personal Statement
  3. Curriculum Vitae (CV generated through ERAS)
  4. USMLE Step 1 score. Number of pass attempts (1)
  5. USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) score must be available at time of interview. USMLE numeric score of >215 is suggested and number of attempts (1)
  6. If you are selected to interview, we do require that you have your USMLE Clinical Skills (CS) test scheduled by the time you arrive for your interview
  7. For D.O. applicants, we require USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 scores
  8. Medical School Transcript, including MSPE
  9. Three letters of recommendation(not including the Dean’s letter). One of the three letters should be from the Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology of your medical school.

NOTE: When listing publications, please make sure to include the PMID number.

International Medical Graduates

In addition to above Residency Application Requirements, graduates of international medical schools must also meet these requirements.

  1. Completed ERAS Application
  2. USMLE Step 1 score. Number of pass attempts (1)
  3. USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) score must be available at time of interview. USMLE numeric score of >215 is suggested and number of attempts (1)
  4. U.S. clinical experience is suggested
  5. Applicant must have graduated from medical school within 3 years, unless you have completed a prior residency
  6. ECFMG certification at time of application is required (by November 1st). Please review the ECFMG requirements
  7. We sponsor only J-1 visas. We do not sponsor H1-B visas
  8. We do not offer pre-match

2020 Match and Application Review

We will begin reviewing applications on September 15, 2020 with the deadline for applications being October 21, 2020. We will release interview invitations on November 10 and November 17, 2020 for initial release of interview offers, followed by rolling offers and will allow 48 hours after an interview invitation for applicants to respond.

Status notification. Final applicant status notification (Interview, Wait-list, Rejection)

Interview Day

Two groups of applicants are interviewed with morning and afternoon sessions. Both sessions will share a luncheon with the residents and faculty. You will have five interviews(10-15 minutes each) with faculty, residents and staff as well as a tour of the hospital. You will be given ample opportunity to ask questions and a tour of residency clinic and main hospital.

There is a social evening/dinner with current residents for the applicants the evening prior to the interview day.

2020 Interview Dates

2020 Interviews will be held virtually via zoom to start after November 17, 2020. November and December dates to be determined.
