Interests: Cooking: Especially Zimbabwean dishes. Reminds me of home. Recently I started making Mediterranean dishes. Running: mostly 5K's. FIFA: Playing online helps me stay in touch with friends and family. Soccer: I enjoy live soccer matches. Fantasy soccer. The reigning champion for 3 years. Travel/road trips: I enjoy visiting new places and taking long drives. Playing guitar and trumpet: I have been playing trumpet since I was 13 and recently added guitar to my repertoire. Tennis: enjoy watching and playing.

Gautham Vellaichamy, M.D.

Interests: Music: Enjoy listening to nearly every genre of music (mainly electronic, hip-hop) as well as discovering new artists and making playlists. Soccer: Play pick-up games and small local tournaments during the spring, fall, and winter (indoor) months. Played on multiple travel teams from early childhood through the end of high school. Running: Run 4-5 miles 4x a week for fitness. Previously ran competitively in track and cross county, my best times being 4:59 (1 mile), 51s (400m), 18:39 (5K).

Mavis Gappy, M.D.

Future Residency: Ophthalmology Henry Ford Hospital
Interests: I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I am especially thankful for time I get to spend with my younger sister, who is significantly younger than I am. She brings a lot of joy to my life, and I love taking her places and watching her experience different parts of the world for the first time. I also love the Detroit sports teams and international soccer. Some other hobbies I enjoy are long-distance running, reading about and watching all things having to do with outer space, and grilling.


Krish Kasetty, M.D.

Future Residency: Ophthalmology Henry Ford Hospital
Interests: My main hobby and favorite sport is soccer. I play and watch whenever time permits. I also enjoy spending time with my family and coaching children’s sports (specifically soccer), which I have done since I was in high school. My other interests include trying new food and restaurants, intramural sports, fitness (especially weight-lifting), driving, mentoring, and cooking.


Leroy Ekeh, M.D.

Medical School: Baylor College of Medicine
Future Residency: Ophthalmology Henry Ford Hospital
Interests: Weightlifting- lost 70 pounds over last 6 years. Practicing the violin- played over 10 years, performed at more than 15 concerts. Basketball -played intramural basketball at BCM as well as Baylor undergraduate. Dancing- ballroom, salsa, and hip-hop dancing, taking classes with goal to compete. Rockclimbing- completed classes with goal to complete 5.07-5.09.


Chris Sesi, M.D.

Medical School: University of Michigan
Future Residency: Ophthalmology Henry Ford Hospital
Interests: Piano: began playing at age seven and continue to play to this day, performing at multiple talent shows, weddings, and hospital settings. Basketball: avid NBA fan and University of Michigan Intramural Champion (3x). Soccer: lifetime soccer player and University of Michigan Intramural Champion (2x). Tennis: recently picked up this sport and now playing regularly. Astronomy/Astrophysics: a passion of mine and the subject of many series, books, and articles that I follow in my spare time.


Nish Patel, M.D.

Interests: Karate: earned a second-degree black belt at the end of high school after 10 years of training. Dance: I was a member of a competitive South Asian dance team at the University of Pennsylvania for 3 years. In medical school, I have been both a dancer and choreographer in biannual Biorhythms shows and have also danced in the Galens Smoker. Recently, I have been taking salsa dance classes.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation


Arthur Yan, M.D.

Medical School: Michigan State University College of Medicine
Future Residency: PM+R Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan
Interests: Avid basketball fan and player, participating in multiple recreational leagues and sponsored tournaments year-round. Aspiring home cook and entrepreneur, prior to medical school was in the investment phase to start a restaurant, "Ghost Street," in Ann Arbor, MI. Classically trained guitar player, played in bars like, "World of Beer," and, "MASH," during college in Ann Arbor, MI. PADI certified rescue diver, obtained Aquanaut status at MarineLab in Key Largo, FL during high school.
