Application Process

Thank you for your interest in our Vascular Neurology Fellowship at Henry Ford Health System - Detroit. We adhere to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME – 1882512030) and participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Match.

Positions

There are 2 positions available in the Vascular Neurology Fellowship Program at Henry Ford Hospital-Detroit (HFH) each year on a competitive basis. Academic year begins on July 1st.

Qualifications

To apply to the Vascular Neurology Fellowship Program, you must have completed an accredited four-year residency program in Neurology in the United States or Canada. You must also be board eligible for the American Board Examination in Psychiatry and Neurology. All requested documents originally written in a language other than English (transcripts, diplomas, test, ECFMG, etc.) must be in English translations and/or certified or notarized (if applicable).

ACGME Eligibility and Institutional Requirements

An applicant must have successfully completed a residency program in one of the following specialties before beginning the fellowship:

• Neurology
• Child Neurology

The residency must be accredited by one of the following:

• ACGME
• AOA (American Osteopathic Association)
• ACGME International (ACGME-I)
• Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
• College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), where applicable.

Medical Degree

Applicants must possess:

• MD, DO, or an equivalent international medical degree acceptable to the sponsoring institution.

International Medical Graduates (IMGs)

International medical graduates typically must have:

• Valid ECFMG certification (if applicable)
• Appropriate visa status (if required)
• Eligibility for state licensure

Institutional eligibility requirements:

• Curriculum vitae (CV)
• ERAS application
• Personal statement
• Current Photo
• Three letters of recommendation from vascular neurology faculty (including one from the Neurology Residency Program Director)
• Medical school transcript
• USMLE or COMLEX scores (requirements vary by program)
• Interview with faculty
• Documentation of board eligibility or board certification in Neurology (preferred or required by many programs).

Once these documents have been received, the selection committee will review the application. The applicant will be notified by e-mail if selected for an interview. Applicants must be U.S. citizen, permanent residents of the U.S. or possess a J-1 visa.
