Resident Wellness and Social Events

Wellness

Here at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital’s EM Residency program we value the wellness of our residents. It is one of our top priorities that we are graduating residents who have thriving and healthy 25 + year EM careers. We have a dedicated wellness curriculum and committee, protected time for resident outings, and ongoing initiatives to recognize and celebrate the major and minor accomplishments of our residents. We also make great efforts to consider resident wellness in monthly scheduling, holiday scheduling, and offering support and flexibility surrounding big life events. We provide an atmosphere that is very supportive and feedback-responsive for all our residents. We value our resident’s time and input, which further improves the wellness of our residents. When you meet us you will see that we consider ourselves a family and how happy we are to be here, training in this program!

Women in EM

Our very own Assistant Program Director, Dr. Correa, founded our Women in EM group in 2017. Inspired by FeminEM and our own experiences as women in medicine, this group meets 4-6 times per year for discussions about topics that are important to us, including effective communication, mentoring, obtaining leadership roles, imposter syndrome and starting a family. We also hosted a regional conference for Women in EM in Southeast Michigan in 2019 and have had combined group and mentoring sessions with the Women in EM group from Henry Ford Hospital. Our Women in EM group loves to spend time together so much that we have also added social events, such as our annual Kayaking trip down the Huron River and trips to Broadway in Detroit for musical theatre shows.
