Henry Ford Physician Leader Becomes President of Michigan State Medical Society

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI —  Betty A. Chu, M.D., MBA, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, will serve as president of the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS). Dr. Chu was appointed president during the 153rd annual meeting of the MSMS House of Delegates annual meeting April 28 in Dearborn and will serve one year as president of MSMS, ending in 2019.

 

The Michigan State Medical Society is a professional association of more than 15,000 Michigan physicians. The mission of the Michigan State Medical Society is to improve the lives of physicians so they may best care for the people they serve.

Dr. Chu joined Henry Ford Health System in 2014. In her role as Chief Medical Officer at Henry Ford West Bloomfield, she is responsible for care oversight, working to ensure all patients are provided quality treatment in an efficient and effective manner. She also serves on the hospital’s leadership team contributing to the development and implementation of corporate strategy.

 

Dr. Chu is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and her MBA from the University of Michigan. She completed residency at William Beaumont Hospital, where she also served as President of the medical staff at Beaumont Hospital, Troy.

 

Dr. Chu serves as a board member for the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce and Walsh College School of Business. She is also a member of Michigan Delegation to the American Medical Association.
