WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (May 31, 2022) – Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care opened a new center in West Bloomfield today, its first in Oakland County. The new location in The Boardwalk Center at 6901 Orchard Lake Rd., just south of Maple Road, is among 15 Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care centers set to open in the next year.

"Easy access to on-demand, affordable healthcare is essential in building and supporting thriving communities," said Laurie Dietzel, Market Vice President, Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care. "We are proud to provide West Bloomfield and Metro Detroit with convenient access to urgent care that is directly connected to the vast services, expertise and deep community roots of Henry Ford Health. We look forward to caring for the West Bloomfield area and partnering with the community to ensure the health and safety of its residents."

The West Bloomfield site is the sixth Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care center to open this year, following the openings of the Clinton Township center on Monday and the Chesterfield, Bruce Township, Fraser, and Livonia centers earlier this year. Additional locations are expected to open in cities like Bloomfield Hills, Canton, Dearborn Heights, and Southgate in the coming months.

Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care’s new centers are expected to create about 80 jobs for healthcare professionals. Approximately 8-10 team members will work at the West Bloomfield center when it is fully staffed.

About the new West Bloomfield center

Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care's new center in West Bloomfield provides the community with a more affordable option for safe and efficient care outside of higher-cost settings like the emergency department. It also provides the community with a direct connection to Henry Ford Health's robust network of care, which regularly earns national recognition for excellence in quality and safety, research and innovation.

“The last two years have demonstrated how important it is for communities to have access to affordable, high-quality healthcare,” said Doug Ditri, Henry Ford Health’s Chief Operating Officer of System Ambulatory Operations. “Our partnership with GoHealth provides Metro Detroit with on-demand urgent care services that are convenient, close to home and more affordable than a trip to the emergency department. With these new urgent care centers, we are making ourselves even more available to our patients where and when they need us.”

The new location will offer treatment for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, on-site X-ray services, and COVID-19 testing and treatment. It will serve the community from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Those seeking care can be seen quickly and easily by walking into any Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care center or going online to save a spot and pre-register. In addition to treating non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, the center will offer sports physicals for kids just in time for summer camps and sports seasons.

Henry Ford Health Expands Access to On-Demand Care

The partnership between Henry Ford Health and GoHealth is a new joint venture in Metro Detroit. Clinical care across the centers will be led and provided by Henry Ford Health doctors, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. GoHealth provides proprietary customer access tools and proven workflows and operations that have allowed the company to deliver unparalleled experiences to patients across the country.

“Patients who visit the Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent care centers and need follow-up care can be conveniently referred directly to one of our specialists, which makes the care experience seamless,” Ditri said. “Anything that happens in the urgent care is easily accessible to our providers during subsequent visits.”

The Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care centers, which will be conveniently located in retail spaces, are meant to complement same-day care clinics within Henry Ford Health medical centers. The partnership with GoHealth Urgent Care, a national on-demand customer-centric care company, enables Henry Ford Health to serve new customers who don’t have a Henry Ford Health provider as well as existing patients who need immediate or urgent care outside regular business hours.

A Unique Healthcare Environment

Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care centers feature GoHealth’s innovative, award-winning design. Wood accents, curved surfaces, and customer-friendly technology create a uniquely comfortable environment. Electrostatic “smart glass” exam rooms allow for instant privacy while being more sanitary and aesthetically pleasing than rooms with traditional curtains or blinds. Widescreen monitors allow patients to follow along as providers update their charts. Unified electronic medical records can be accessed by caregivers across the Henry Ford Health network.

“Our centers were designed with our customers’ well-being in mind,” continued Dietzel.  “From our proprietary consumer-oriented technology to our efficient workflows and our color palette, warm materials and light, our patients experience a sense of ease and healing at every stage of their visit.”

GoHealth Urgent Care was the first healthcare company to win the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) U.S. Design and Development Award. The honor recognizes the premier design and development trends of retail projects, new developments, renovation and expansion projects, and retail store design within the U.S.
