DETROIT (Feb. 5, 2024) – Henry Ford Health is proud to announce the addition of Gerardo "Jerry" Norcia to its Board of Directors. Norcia, the Chairman and CEO of DTE Energy, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the board, further strengthening the governance of Henry Ford Health.

Norcia has been at the helm of DTE Energy since 2019. Prior to his current role, Norcia was instrumental in overseeing strategic operations and development at DTE, having served as President and COO, and President of DTE Gas and DTE Electric. He joined DTE Energy in 2002, bringing with him a diverse background in the energy sector, including executive leadership roles in business development, engineering, and operations.

"Jerry's extraordinary leadership and deep understanding of complex organizational operations make him an invaluable addition to our board," said Bob Riney, President and CEO of Henry Ford Health. "His strategic vision and commitment to community development in the energy sector align perfectly with our mission at Henry Ford Health. We are excited about the perspectives and insights he will bring to our board, and I am personally looking forward to collaborating with him to advance our strategic goals."

Norcia is joining Henry Ford’s Board at a historic time for the organization. After having operated in the same Detroit location for 109 years, Henry Ford is preparing to embark on a major expansion of its primary academic medical campus, including a new high-tech patient tower and reimagined, modernized emergency department. It’s the central piece of a multibillion-dollar development vision, alongside key partners, to transform the region’s—and the country’s—health and wellbeing.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Norcia is an active community leader. He co-chairs the United Way Campaign Cabinet and serves on the board of trustees of The Skillman Foundation, which is dedicated to the welfare and prosperity of children in Detroit. Norcia's involvement extends to several other boards, including Business Leaders for Michigan, the Detroit Regional Partnership, and the Downtown Detroit Partnership. He also contributes to the national energy landscape through his roles on the boards of the American Gas Association, Edison Electric Institute, Nuclear Energy Institute, and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.

Norcia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Windsor, complementing his extensive professional experience. His appointment reflects Henry Ford Health's commitment to excellence and innovation in healthcare governance and management.
