Biographical Statement
Dr. Henry E. Kim is the system chief of cardiovascular medicine and division head of cardiology at Henry Ford Health, where he also holds the prestigious Frank and Barbara Darin Endowed Chair in Cardiology. He has served in progressive leadership roles at Henry Ford Health for over two decades and previously held the Koslosky Family Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Diseases from 2012 to 2023.
Dr. Kim completed his undergraduate studies at Williams College and earned his medical degree and master of public health degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Washington, followed by a cardiovascular fellowship and NIH postdoctoral research training at Columbia University and Henry Ford Hospital. He is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
Under Dr. Kim’s leadership, Henry Ford Health’s cardiology program has grown from 32 to more than 50 cardiologists, while its fellowship programs have expanded from three to eight and now train more than 30 fellows annually. He also served as director of the cardiovascular fellowship training program for 13 years, overseeing the growth and national accreditation of multiple subspecialty fellowships.
A nationally recognized clinician and physician-scientist, Dr. Kim has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, led numerous NIH- and industry-sponsored clinical trials, and served on national committees for the American College of Cardiology. His contributions have helped establish Henry Ford Hospital as a leader in advanced cardiac care, including structural heart disease, transplant cardiology and cardiogenic shock protocols.
Dr. Kim also serves as chair of the Henry Ford Medical Group Board of Governors and chair of the System Cardiovascular Care Council. Through his leadership, research and physician development, he continues to advance cardiovascular medicine regionally and nationally.
