Down Syndrome Care

Every child with Down syndrome is unique, and we believe their care should be, too.

Our Chair of Pediatric Care, Uzma Shah, M.D., and her team have launched the first Down syndrome clinic in Michigan.

This dedicated team connects patients and their families with resources and support to help children live full, healthy lives. Treating the differences in physical, mental and social development and other health challenges with early intervention programs is the best way to help children grow and thrive.

This work is part of an effort launched to develop more clinical programming and learning for children with cognitive and developmental disabilities. While providing expert care for patients, the team will also work within the community to educate and train medical students and residents, in addition to connecting with health policy and advocacy here in Michigan and nationally.
