Internal Medicine Alumni

The Department of Medicine at Henry Ford, established when the doors of Henry Ford Hospital first opened in 1915, will soon celebrate 100 years of service. Our clinicians and scientists have been instrumental to the development of the wide field of medicine and for continuing the advancement of medical education and research, including:

  • Penicillin trials
  • First electrocardiographic studies
  • International polio conference
  • Human insulin trials
  • Hormone trials for diagnosis of thyroid cancer
  • Bone research on the International Space Station
  • AIDS trials
  • Airway stent trials for asthma
  • First in U.S. for percutaneous aortic valve replacement

We wouldn’t be who we are without our longtime staff and our alumni. We’d love to hear from you, about your memories and stories of your time with the Department of Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital. The first 100 years of Henry Ford Health System are being compiled in video, book, and electronic formats for a year-long celebration in 2015.
