Lean Quality Management

These Henry Ford laboratories are recognized as the world’s leading Lean managed laboratory enterprise whose focus for over a decade has been on continuous improvement through a highly engaged and accountable workforce. Transformation to a laboratory Lean culture of continuous improvement, the HenryFord Production System, began in 2005 and is documented in Professor Jeffrey Liker’s book, The Toyota Way to Continuous Improvement; Linking Strategy and Operational Excellence to Achieve Superior Performance.

The Department offers Lean management education and training courses throughout the year and has trained well over 3000 folks across the globe.

ISO 15189 Accreditation for Quality and Competence:

In addition to basic CLIA accreditation status, these Henry Ford laboratories are further distinguished for highest demonstrated quality as the largest ISO 15189 accredited system of laboratories in the USA and the only ISO 15189 accredited laboratory operation in the State of Michigan since 2013. This voluntary international laboratory accreditation for excellence and reliability in quality and competence applies to all laboratory testing sites in the Henry Ford Health System.
