Giving Back to Our Community

For more than 100 years, Henry Ford Jackson Hospital has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve. In addition to providing traditional acute care services, we continue to make a substantial investment in community education, wellness and prevention services, including free health screenings, health fairs and community presentations.

Recognizing that quality health care should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability to pay, Henry Ford Jackson Hospital provides care for the uninsured and under-insured, with little or no reimbursement. Financial assistance is also available for low-income patients.

In recognition of our long-term commitment to community service programs, Henry Ford Jackson Hospital was awarded the 2010 Foster G. McGaw Prize by the American Hospital Association.

Community Benefit Investment

Every year, Henry Ford Jackson Hospital makes a significant investment in our community by providing low-cost or cost-free services and education that touch thousands of people. Through free health screenings, we have saved the lives of many who might not otherwise have been aware of a serious medical condition until it became untreatable. 

Health Improvement Organization

Many of the free or low-cost services Henry Ford Jackson Hospital provides are offered through the Health Improvement Organization (HIO). A collaboration between Henry Ford Jackson Hospital and more than 30 other health and community service organizations, the HIO was formed in 2000 to foster a culture of wellness and prevention by prioritizing and addressing community health needs, particularly for people who are underserved.

Henry Ford Community Education Center

The Henry Ford Community Education Center reflects our belief that care doesn’t end at the walls of our hospital or medical centers—it extends into the heart of the community. This thoughtfully designed space allows us to connect with the people in our community—both personally and virtually—to support their health and well-being where they live, work, and play. In partnership with the Jackson YMCA, we’ve created a welcoming environment where care, connection, and compassion come together. Whether through health education, support groups, or open conversations, this space is a symbol of our commitment to building a healthier, stronger community—together.
