Henry Ford Hospital Physician Among 'Most Influential'

DETROIT – William Conway, M.D., has been selected as one of the “50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare magazine.

Dr. Conway is CEO of Henry Ford Medical Group.

The program honors physicians working in the healthcare industry who are deemed by their peers and an expert panel to be the most influential in terms of demonstrating leadership and impact.

This is the 2nd year in a row that Dr. Conway has been selected.

Under by Dr. Conway’s leadership, Henry Ford has won the “triple crown” in health care quality by being recognized with the:

National Business Group on Health - Patient Safety Leadership Award, which recognizes health systems that are taking a leadership position by visibly displaying their commitment to patient safety through transparency.

The John Eisenberg Award for the “No Harm” campaign, which has become a national benchmark for patient safety.

The 2011 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s highest recognition for business performance excellence.

Dr. Conway is the past chairman of the American Medical Group Association, current chairman of the American Medical Group Foundation, and a founder of the Group Practice Improvement Network.

Modern Healthcare began accepting nominations and received more than 2,600 nominations. The final ballot of 100 names, based on those receiving the most nominations, was then posted online. Readers could submit their votes for the candidates they believed should make the final ranking of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders. A total of 126,200 ballots were cast, more than double in the previous year. As in past years, readers' votes counted for 50 percent of the outcome. The other 50 percent is based on the expert opinions of senior editors at Modern Healthcare.
