Henry Ford Health System Names Chair of Emergency Medicine

DETROIT – John Deledda, M.D., a board certified emergency medicine physician, has been named chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit.

In his position, Dr. Deledda oversees all clinical and administrative emergency medicine services at Henry Ford, including its Level 1 trauma center Henry Ford Hospital. He also will manage the alignment of emergency medicine services across the health system, which has 24-hour emergency care at eight locations across metro Detroit.

Dr. Deledda comes to Henry Ford from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he served as associate professor of clinical emergency medicine, chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs. He also held several leadership positions including chief of staff and medical director of the Center for Emergency Care at the academic medical center.

Dr. Deledda earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed post-graduate training in emergency medicine at the University of Cincinnati.

His clinical and academic interests include process improvement science applications and evidence-based guideline development in the Emergency Department aimed at patient safety and patient care quality to improve the patient experience. He also has authored numerous research articles.
