Henry Ford Medical Group Names New Chair of Board of Governors

Yaremchuk   News DETROIT – Kathleen Yaremchuk, M.D., chair of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Henry Ford Health System, will begin a two-year term as chair of Henry Ford Medical Group’s Board of Governors, making her the first female physician in its history to serve in this role. Henry Ford Medical Group, founded in 1915, is one of the foremost group practices in the nation, comprising 1,900 physicians and researchers across 40 specialties.  

In her new role, Dr. Yaremchuk will lead Henry Ford Medical Group’s 19-member Board of Governors, which oversees a wide range of practices and policies, including those related to patient care, quality, safety, research, ethics and appointments. The Board of Governors serves as the executive body of the Henry Ford Hospital Medical Staff and governing body of the Henry Ford Medical Group.

Henry Ford Medical Group is ranked in the 99th percentile of all group practices nationally. It is one of the largest post-graduate medical education enterprises in the country, as nearly 40% of all physicians currently practicing in Michigan have received training at Henry Ford. It is also in the top 6% of National Institutes of Health funded research programs.

Additionally, Dr. Yaremchuk is the first physician to serve as chair of the Henry Ford Health System Board of Directors’ Patient Safety and Quality Committee, which works to ensure the highest-quality of care for all patients of Henry Ford Health System. She has also served on the Physician Advisory Committee for the National Committee for Quality Assurance and on the National Quality Forum task force for ambulatory measures.

She completed her Otolaryngology training at the University of Chicago Medical Center and her General Surgery training at Cook County Hospital in Illinois.
