DETROIT (May 23, 2022) – Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care opened a new center in Clinton Township today, continuing the Detroit-based health care system’s strategic expansion of on-demand care options in Southeast Michigan. The new location at 40463 Groesbeck Highway is among the first of 15 Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care centers set to open across Metro Detroit in the next year.

The Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care centers, which will be conveniently located in retail spaces, are meant to complement same-day care clinics within Henry Ford Health medical centers. The partnership with GoHealth Urgent Care, a national on-demand customer-centric care company, enables Henry Ford Health to serve new customers who don’t have a Henry Ford Health provider as well as existing patients who need immediate or urgent care outside regular business hours.

“The last two years have demonstrated how important it is for communities to have access to affordable, high-quality healthcare,” said Doug Ditri, Henry Ford Health’s Chief Operating Officer of System Ambulatory Operations. “Our partnership with GoHealth provides Metro Detroit with on-demand urgent care services that are convenient, close to home and more affordable than a trip to the emergency department. With these new urgent care centers, we are making ourselves even more available to our patients where and when they need us.”

Affordable, world-class urgent care

By joining forces with GoHealth, Henry Ford Health offers an innovative, consumer-focused approach to its urgent cares, delivering the same high-quality care that communities across Metro Detroit have come to know and trust, while capitalizing on GoHealth’s proven expertise in managing urgent care centers.

"Easy access to on-demand, affordable healthcare is essential in building and supporting thriving communities," said Todd Latz, Chief Executive Officer, GoHealth Urgent Care. "We are proud to provide Clinton Township and Metro Detroit with convenient access to urgent care that is directly connected to the vast services, expertise and deep community roots of Henry Ford Health. We look forward to caring for customers across Southeast Michigan and partnering with the community to ensure the health and safety of its residents."

Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care centers provide the community with a more affordable option for safe and efficient care outside of higher-cost settings like the emergency department. They also provide a direct connection to Henry Ford Health's robust network of care, which regularly earns national recognition for excellence in quality and safety, research and innovation.

“Patients who visit the Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent care centers and need follow-up care can be conveniently referred directly to one of our specialists, which makes the care experience seamless,” Ditri said. “Anything that happens in the urgent care is easily accessible to our providers during subsequent visits.”

Customers seeking care can be seen quickly and easily by walking into any Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care center or going online to save a spot and pre-register. In addition to treating non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, providing on-site X-ray services, COVID-19 testing and treatment, and more, the centers offer sports physicals for kids just in time for summer camps and sports seasons. The centers are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The Clinton Township site is the fifth Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care center to open this year, following the openings of the Livonia center in April and the Fraser, Bruce Township and Chesterfield centers in February. Additional locations are expected to open later this year in Bloomfield Hills, Canton, Dearborn Heights, Southgate and West Bloomfield.

Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care’s new centers are expected to create up to 80 jobs for healthcare professionals. Approximately 8-10 team members will work at the Clinton Township center when it is fully staffed.

A Unique Healthcare Environment

Henry Ford-GoHealth Urgent Care centers feature GoHealth’s innovative, award-winning design. Wood accents, curved surfaces, and customer-friendly technology create a uniquely comfortable environment. Electrostatic “smart glass” exam rooms allow for instant privacy while being more sanitary and aesthetically pleasing than rooms with traditional curtains or blinds. Widescreen monitors allow patients to follow along as providers update their charts. Unified electronic medical records can be accessed by caregivers across the Henry Ford Health network.

“Our centers were designed with our customers’ well-being in mind,” continued Latz.  “From our proprietary consumer-oriented technology, to our efficient workflows and our color palette, warm materials and light, our patients experience a sense of ease and healing at every stage of their visit.”

GoHealth Urgent Care was the first healthcare company to win the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) U.S. Design and Development Award. The honor recognizes the premier design and development trends of retail projects, new developments, renovation and expansion projects, and retail store design within the U.S.
