PLYMOUTH, Mich. (Sept. 6, 2022)—Henry Ford Health is now serving western Wayne County’s growing population at a brand-new, state-of-the-art medical center at 40777 Ann Arbor Road in Plymouth Township.

Henry Ford Medical Center Plymouth offers a full spectrum of care including primary, specialty and emergency care services. The new site also offers services for patients of all ages including cancer screening, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, orthopedics, physical therapy, radiology and a retail pharmacy.

“This is an exciting time for Henry Ford as we expand our world-class care to more neighborhoods,” said Steven Kalkanis, M.D., CEO of the Henry Ford Medical Group and Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Henry Ford Health. “We understand customers want comprehensive care close to home. Our neighbors in western Wayne County can now see a specialist, do follow-up testing and fill a prescription all in one visit.”

The modern, multi-story facility includes 81 exam rooms, an ambulatory surgery center with 11 procedure rooms and two operating rooms, as well as a full-service emergency department equipped to accept ambulance runs, treat acute injuries and medical conditions, and keep patients for observation.

“Convenience is key. People living in and around Plymouth no longer have to drive a great distance for routine or outpatient care. And for our patients who may require inpatient or trauma care, Henry Ford Medical Center Plymouth is just 15 minutes away from our West Bloomfield Hospital and 20 minutes from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit,” said Denise Brooks-Williams, Senior Vice President and CEO of Market Operations for Henry Ford Health.

The medical center is staffed by more than 120 team members, including 35 doctors.

“These specialists are the same exceptional doctors you find in our hospitals,” Kalkanis said.

Henry Ford Health built the 120,000-square-foot building on the site of an old Kmart. Improvements to the property include a rain garden, which was installed with input from Friends of the Rouge, a Plymouth-based nonprofit organization that aims to raise awareness about the need to clean up the Rouge River. Rain gardens help mitigate flooding and pollution by capturing rainwater and melted snow from hard surfaces and filtering the water through the ground before it enters our water system.

The site is the latest in a series of large-scale Henry Ford medical centers to open in metro Detroit over the past two years. A new medical center in Royal Oak opened in 2021 and a medical center in Bloomfield Township opened in 2020.
