Henry Ford Health Leads Michigan, Detroit in ‘A’ Hospital Safety Ratings

Four Henry Ford Health hospitals received ‘A’ ratings for safety this week—the most for any hospital system in the state. 

Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital, and Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital were cited by The Leapfrog Group for the highest honors in their Fall 2025 Safety Grades.

Notably, Henry Ford Hospital was Detroit’s only hospital to receive an ‘A’ rating.

Seventy-seven percent of the health system’s 13 acute care hospitals receive an ‘A’ or ‘B’ rating. Grades are awarded each spring and fall to nearly 3,000 hospitals nationwide, based on evaluations by a national panel of patient safety experts.

The panel uses up to 30 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, and other supplemental data sources to determine each grade.

Hospitals receive a single letter grade—A, B, C, D or F— reflecting their overall performance in protecting patients from medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
