Philosophy
My goal is to return patients to their active lifestyle by delivering excellent medical care and using minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery when needed. I have special interests in joint preservation procedures, trying to maintain function without joint replacement.
Dr. Rill is a life long Michigander. He was born in Lapeer, Michigan, and raised in Swartz Creek, a suburb of Flint. Dr. Rill was an athlete in high school, power-lifting and playing football and would have continued sports in college, however, at 5 foot nothing and a hundred and nothing pounds, he had few scholarship offers.
Dr. Rill chose to attend the University of Michigan Flint and matriculated with a BS degree in Biology and Chemistry. He was a chemistry principles instructor for Kettering University. Dr. Rill left Kettering for Wayne State University School of Medicine graduating AOA honors as a senior. He then completed a five year residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. He finished his graduate medical education during a one year fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Cincinnati Sports Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Rill has been dedicated to sports medicine since joining Henry Ford in 2007. He has taken care of all levels of athletes and currently serves as team physician to Marygrove and Macomb Community College. He is active in the orthopedic residency program at Henry Ford, training the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.
Dr. Rill strives to improve patient care and the rapid return of the injured athlete to the playing field. Professionally, Dr Rill is a member of American Society of Sports Medicine and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is currently Vice Chair of Orthopedic Operations and Division Head Sports Medicine at Henry Ford. He serves on multiple committees at Henry Ford working to improve patient access and quality of medical care delivered.
