Biographical Statement

Brian Sullivan, M.D., M.Sc., is a vascular surgeon at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital with a distinctive background that bridges clinical expertise and scientific innovation. Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Sullivan built a successful career in pharmaceutical research and development, bringing a deep understanding of biophysics and chemistry to his surgical practice.

Dr. Sullivan completed his integrated vascular surgery residency at Washington University in St. Louis, where he served as administrative chief resident and was actively involved in graduate medical education leadership. He is board certified in vascular surgery and has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications on vascular access, telemedicine reimbursement, and burnout prevention in surgical trainees, as well as authoring several textbook chapters on surgical techniques.

Known for his collaborative approach and passion for teaching, Dr. Sullivan is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing clinical practices through innovation and research. He is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society.

Research Interests

Dr. Sullivan’s research interests span a broad spectrum of vascular surgery, with particular focus on health systems innovation, vascular access, and outcomes analysis. He has explored topics ranging from the creation of real-time biologic sensors to the use of telemedicine in integrated healthcare, in addition to participating in major clinical databases. His work aims to improve the efficiency, safety, and accessibility of vascular care.

With a background in biophysics and pharmaceutical development, Dr. Sullivan brings a unique scientific perspective to clinical research. He has contributed to studies on device validation, diagnostic technologies, and patient outcomes, and has co-authored publications in Journal of Vascular Surgery, JVS–Cases, Innovations and Techniques, and Pediatric Surgery International. His work reflects a commitment to merging evidence-based medicine with practical innovation.
