Diagnosing Prostate Cancer

Accurate information to manage your health and risk.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in men. About one in nine men will be diagnosed with this disease. Effective prostate cancer care starts with a thorough, accurate diagnostic process. Using the most advanced diagnosis techniques our team offers a one-stop MRI-targeted biopsy process that provides pathology results in less than 48 hours.

Prostate cancer that's detected early — when it's still confined to the prostate gland — has a better chance of successful treatment. We’ll be by your side every step of the way, whether you need a screening exam or if your doctor suspects that you may have prostate cancer.

If your PSA level is high, your doctor may advise repeating the test to confirm the PSA rise or getting a prostate biopsy. Your doctor might order other testing beside a biopsy if you are experiencing some of the more common prostate cancer symptoms, including:

  • Frequent urination, especially at night
  • Difficulty starting urination
  • Interrupted flow of urine
  • Dribbling urine
  • Blood in the urine or semen
  • Pain or burning during urination
  • Painful ejaculation
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Frequent pain in the lower back, hips, pelvic or rectal area

How is prostate cancer diagnosed?

The only way to know for sure whether you have prostate cancer is for us to perform a biopsy, in which we take a sample of tissue from your prostate. We offer several types of advanced biopsy techniques, including prostate MRI targeted biopsy. Needing a biopsy does not necessarily mean you have prostate cancer.
