Become an International Patient

The first step toward becoming an international patient at Henry Ford Health is to make sure you are a candidate for care. We will only advise you to spend the time and money to travel to us if we believe we can help you. The care coordination team can answer all your questions about international patient care.

Our care coordinators are your single point of contact before, during and after care. They interact with you and the doctors throughout the entire process.

Your International Patient Appointment at Henry Ford Health

If you choose to pursue treatment at Henry Ford Health, the care coordination team will work with you to schedule and confirm your appointment. Care coordination services are completely free — we want your experience with us to be as easy as possible.

The Medical Records Review Process at Henry Ford Health

After you contact us, the care coordination team will ask you to gather all the necessary information for a comprehensive medical records review. All documents should be translated into English. Once we have all your records, a care coordinator will work with the medical team to render an opinion.

Henry Ford Health‘s U.S. board-certified doctors will review your medical record. They may also consult other medical staff members for added perspective on your case. After reviewing your records, the doctors will determine what treatment options are available to you.

When the process is complete, you’ll receive detailed documentation, including a suggested treatment plan and a cost-of-care estimate.

Our doctors may want you to have preliminary tests or procedures before your treatment with us. You may arrange to have these done in your home country and send us copies of the results translated into English.

Medical Records Review Fees

Henry Ford Health charges a standard fee for the medical records review. Your medical records review fee will act as a deposit toward your total healthcare cost if you choose treatment with us. The review fee is non-refundable for people who do not receive care with us. Please review our international patient cost information to understand payment requirements.
