Ford EM Health Equity Scholarship

The FORD EM Health Equity Scholarship supports medical students pursuing emergency medicine as a career and who are committed to working with underserved patient populations to advance health equity in the Detroit community. The program provides a $1500 travel award to participate in a visiting clerkship opportunity at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, with additional mentorship and networking opportunities.

Our department serves an incredibly diverse patient population and is committed to serving our local communities by providing outstanding equitable care for all. All 4th year medical students interested in a career in emergency medicine and who share a similar passion for advancing health equity for the Detroit community are encouraged to apply.

Prerequisites

  • 4th year medical student at accredited U.S. allopathic and osteopathic medical schools who plan to apply to an emergency medicine residency.
  • Good standing at their medical school, with completion of all their required core-clerkships prior to the rotation.
  • Students committed to caring for underserved patient populations and advancing health equity for the Detroit community

Application Requirements

Please complete the HFH EM Underrepresented in Medicine Scholarship Program application as soon as possible, and do not wait for the VSLO/VSAS application to open. The current scholarship application deadline and the anticipated date that Henry Ford Hospital VSLO/VSAS opens will be posted on the scholarship application itself.
