Tahsin M Rahman, MD

Biographical Statement

A native of Troy, Michigan, Dr. Rahman was accepted to the MedStart Program, allowing guaranteed admission to Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree with the highest distinction of Alpha Omega Alpha. He then completed his orthopedic surgical residency at Henry Ford Hospital.

Dr. Rahman pursued advanced fellowship training in adult reconstructive surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The Massachusetts General Hospital arthroplasty fellowship is the oldest joint-replacement training program in the United States, is recognized as one of the birthplaces of modern hip and knee replacement surgery, and is consistently regarded among the nation's leading fellowship programs in adult reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Rahman enjoys spending time with his family and friends, trying local restaurants, cheering on the Detroit Lions, rewatching movies, listening to music, and improving his golf swing.

Dr. Tahsin Rahman is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery, and offers the following services.

When appropriate, he uses modern techniques, including robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery and anterior-based hip replacement surgery, to optimize patient outcomes and provide tailored surgical care. His goal is to use minimally invasive techniques to reduce pain and disruption from surgery, and help patients progress through rehabilitation safely so they may return as quickly as possible to their daily routines, work, and recreational activities.

Research Interests

Dr. Rahman has an extensive academic and research background and has been recognized among leading orthopedic authors in recent years. His research interests include improving access to joint-replacement care, optimizing patient recovery, and advancing technical innovation in hip and knee replacement. He serves as the clinical lead for the Michigan Arthroplasty Registry Collaborative Quality Initiative at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in efforts to improve system wide patient outcomes.
