Fertility Hormone Management

Men’s hormones (such as testosterone) play a key role in fertility. If your hormones are not properly balanced, it can affect sperm production and other aspects of your sexual health.

At the Henry Ford Men’s Health Center, we accurately diagnose and effectively treat men with hormonal imbalances to restore fertility.

How hormones affect your fertility

Your reproductive hormones are responsible for many aspects of your sexual health and fertility. As part of your male fertility evaluation , we test your hormone levels to see if they are normal. These hormones include:

  • Testosterone: Low testosterone levels can reduce sperm production. Low testosterone sometimes causes erectile dysfunction.
  • Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH): This pituitary hormone signals the testicles to produce sperm. When FSH levels are low, sperm production decreases.
  • Lutenizing hormone (LH): LH is another pituitary hormone that tells the testicles to make testosterone. If LH is low, testosterone will also be low.
  • Prolactin: High prolactin levels can cause low testosterone and sometimes lead to sexual dysfunction.

How we treat male fertility hormones

We use oral medication or injections to successfully balance your hormones and help you achieve your biological fatherhood goals.

We understand that achieving the right balance of hormones is complicated. Our skilled hormone management team at the Henry Ford Men’s Health Center precisely targets therapy to put your hormones back in balance and maximize your fertility.
