Frequently Asked Questions

How many positions will you offer?

We are accredited for 2 integrated positions per year. Initially, we intend to match 1 position per year. We will also match up to 2 independent positions. The Diagnostic Radiology Residency program intends to accept 2 residents per year in the ESIR curriculum.

Will you accept resident transfers?

Although we are not actively pursuing transfers, we will evaluate all requests on a case by case basis.

Do you offer Visa support and positions for foreign medical graduates?

The Department of Radiology does not currently provide Visa support.

Do you have a minimum cutoff for USMLE scores?

No. We look at the entire application; however, initial match cycles are expected to be competitive.

Do you offer a preliminary/transitional year?

We are a categorical program. If you match into the HFH IR integrated residency, you will automatically match into our preliminary year. You do not require a separate application. Our diagnostic radiology residency is similar.

If I apply for both the IR and DR residencies, will I have to travel and interview twice?

No. You must apply for both residency programs in ERAS separately, but interviews will be coordinated on the same day.

Do you offer medical student rotations?

We offer two medical student opportunities both of which are one month rotations. A general radiology rotation is offered with limited interventional radiology experience. A dedicated interventional radiology rotation is also offered where students will be integrated into the IR service. For more information, please refer to the Undergraduate Medical Education website.

Is funding available for conference participation and travel?

Yes. Residents are provided funding for non-participant travel expenses and educational material such as books. With some exception, trainees are also reimbursed for all conference and travel expenses related to projects for which they are first authors or presenters
