David A Knesek, DO

Biographical Statement

Dr. David Knesek is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction. With 14 years of experience serving patients in Southeast Michigan, he performs more than 700 reconstructive procedures annually at Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital. Dr. Knesek was recruited to help establish the hospital's robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement program and is experienced in using advanced surgical technology to support personalized care and improved patient outcomes.

Dr. Knesek's practice centers on minimally invasive techniques for hip and knee osteoarthritis, including the anterior approach to total hip arthroplasty, which he performs 300 times per year. He performs another 300-350 primary knee replacements annually and around 50-100 revision arthroplasties per year. He has built a statewide reputation for his expertise in complex joint reconstruction and is frequently consulted by fellow surgeons for challenging cases involving failed or problematic hip and knee replacements. A significant portion of his practice is dedicated to revision surgery, addressing stiffness, instability, chronic pain, infection, and periprosthetic fracture. He also treats general orthopedic conditions, including fractures and sports injuries.

Dr. Knesek serves as associate clinical faculty for MSUCOM and has spent the past 14 years training orthopedic residents from DMC, Ascension, and Providence, working closely with the Providence Henry Ford and Warren Henry Ford Orthopedic residency programs, as well as previously with the DMC Orthopedic Residency and DMC Adult Reconstruction Fellowship. He is active in the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics lecture series, presenting on topics such as the painful total knee and the management of hip and knee periprosthetic infections.
