Biographical Statement

Dr. Theresa Toledo is a board-certified general adult and geriatric psychiatrist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions affecting older adults. She provides comprehensive psychiatric care for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, neurological disorders that can affect memory, such as dementia, and movement, including Parkinson's and Huntington's disease, behavioral symptoms associated with dementia and other complex mental health concerns. Her approach emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care that supports emotional well-being, cognitive health and quality of life.

Dr. Toledo earned her medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico and completed additional medical training through New York Medical College's Fifth Year Program. She completed her residency training in psychiatry at Henry Ford Health, where she developed expertise in the assessment and treatment of a broad range of psychiatric conditions. She further specialized through a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Michigan, gaining advanced training in the unique mental health needs of older adults.

Dr. Toledo works closely with patients, families and multidisciplinary care teams to develop individualized treatment plans that address complex medical conditions. She is committed to helping older adults maintain independence, dignity and overall well-being through evidence-based psychiatric care, which often includes supporting and caring for caregivers.
