Center for Structural Heart Disease: Our approach to care
Patients come to us, from across the country and around the world, with advanced stages of heart valve disease and other structural heart disease. Whether your physician refers you or you come to us directly, you can expect:
Pioneers in minimally invasive heart treatment:
At the Center for Structural Heart Disease, we have brought together a team of internationally known cardiology experts. Our medical director, William W. O’Neill, M.D., pioneered the use of angioplasty in heart attack treatment. In the field of structural heart disease, he performed the first TAVR procedure in the U.S. in 2012. O’Neill leads our team in developing the latest transcatheter procedures for heart valve disease and other structural heart conditions.
Groundbreaking advancements that bring hope to patients:
Our heart experts offer treatments that help people who have no other treatment options. Many of our patients come to us after being turned away from other hospitals because they are too old, ill or frail for conventional treatment. Our unmatched expertise in transcatheter procedures and dedication to research mean that whatever your structural heart condition is, we will find a way to treat it.
Commitment to patient safety:
One of the reasons we can provide such advanced treatment with excellent patient outcomes is our commitment to safe, effective care. We use sophisticated, advanced 3D imaging and printing technology as one way to enhance patient safety. We create exact replicas of a patient’s heart anatomy. We then use the models to precisely plan each patient’s treatment, allowing for safer, shorter procedures with less pain and a faster recovery.
Excellence in personalized care:
Through a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, we work quickly to understand the causes of your condition, so we can get you the treatment you need. Our specialists meet in weekly team conferences, bringing together expertise from several specialties to develop a customized treatment plan specifically for you.
