Dear Patients;

As the beautiful fall season progresses, we hope you are staying safe and taking a few moments to enjoy the sunny days when you can.

At Henry Ford, you and your family’s safety, health and well-being continue to be our top priority. This is why we remain focused in our efforts to provide the highest quality, safest care to all who enter our facilities.

Our mission to improve people’s lives is one we take very seriously. Together, the state of Michigan and its residents have done very well in controlling the spread of COVID-19 in recent months. We are eager to do our part to prevent a surge, especially now that we are seeing a rise in cases.

Masks will continue to be required in all Henry Ford facilities

We are standing firmly by the policies we have in place. These include mandatory social distancing and mask wearing for team members, patients and visitors at all of our facilities. We are equally committed to enforcement of those policies as long as they are in place. The steps we’ve taken have been scientifically proven to protect you, your family and our staff from contracting COVID-19 and to slow the spread of the disease that has affected so many lives.

You likely have heard in the news the recent decision by the Michigan Supreme Court to strike down Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s emergency orders, raising questions about the state mandates. Last week, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services answered with its own ruling by issuing those same regulations restricting large gatherings, requiring masks in public spaces and limiting the number of employees and customers in workplaces and businesses.

We acknowledge that there have been conflicting political and legal opinions regarding safety measures to follow at this point in the COVID-19 pandemic. But those opinions do not relate to the scientific evidence supporting the safety policies we are enforcing to protect our community.

  • You currently have a temperature greater than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit
  • In the past 21 days, you have been diagnosed with COVID-19
  • In the past 14 days, you have had contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19
  • You are experiencing a new loss of taste and/or sense of smell
  • If you have experienced two or more of the following symptoms in the last 3 days:
    • fever
    • chills
    • drenching sweats
    • new cough
    • shortness of breath
    • body aches
    • headache
    • sore throat
    • runny nose or nasal congestion
    • nausea/vomiting/diarrhea
