DETROIT – The Henry Ford Cancer Institute is rolling out free Breast Health Boot Camps across metro Detroit during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as a way to bring together nutrition and fitness with the latest information on breast cancer prevention, detection and treatment.
The camps will feature Celebrity chef Michelle Bommarito, who has appeared on The Food Network and Martha Stewart Living. Bommarito will provide culinary demonstrations, as well as recipes and tasty food samples.
Attendees will also learn how to do chair yoga – a great way to relax and strengthen muscles at work or home – and participate in a Q&A discussion with Henry Ford breast cancer physicians.
Boot Camps will be held at the following locations:
- Oct. 9, from 6 - 8 p.m., in the Gilmour Center at Henry Ford’s Office Building, 1 Ford Place in Detroit, with Henry Ford breast cancer surgeon Lisa Newman, M.D., and breast cancer radiation oncologist Eleanor Walker, M.D.
- Oct. 24, from 6-9 p.m. at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital’s Medical Pavilion, 15855 19 Mile Rd. in Clinton Township, 4th floor rooms 1, 2 & 3, with Henry Ford breast cancer expert Laura Dalla Vecchia, M.D.
- Oct. 26, from 6-8 p.m. in the Demonstration Kitchen at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, 6777 W. Maple, with Henry Ford breast reconstruction surgeon Dunya Atisha, M.D., and breast cancer surgeon Lindsay Petersen, M.D.
